On 01/20/2025 at 12:00 p.m. (UTC), an AMA session was held on Avalaunch Telegram group with Jeff Lam — CEO, AIvalanche DeFAI Agents, to learn about how they’re bringing the AI revolution to Avalanche.
Below we present to you an excerpt from AMA with questions and answers.
Avalaunch
Hey everyone and welcome to another exciting Avalaunch AMA! Today we are joined by Jeff Lam from AIvalanche DeFAI Agents — how are you doing today?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
Heya Kirbee and everyone in the Avalaunch community!
Very honoured and excited to be here for this AMA
Avalaunch
Amazing, I know everyone has been looking forward to meeting you guys! Let’s jump straight in with our first question — could you share the story behind AIvalanche DeFAI Agents? What inspired its creation and what was the journey like?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
So the team and I are definitely inspired by how AI and DeFAI Agents in web3 have been able to capture so much attention with “not just” the different capabilities that AI Agents can do, but also how they could generate and deliver value for their co-owners when we bring in tokenization.
In addition, the fact that the overall AI market is just seemingly only going to grow much larger in the near future.
I share this because the team and myself were definitely first skeptical of AI and AI Agents when we first observe it, but in the past several months since, we now firmly sit in the opposite camp where instead of skepticism, we see potenital.
And that’s why we are looking to build AIvalanche DeFAI Agents
AIvalanche DeFAI Agents is the first AI hub on Avalanche that will allow anyone to easily create, manage, launch and trade tokenized AI and DeFAI agents. Our vision is to make it easy for anyone to easily create, co-own and monetize valauble AI and DeFAI agents and services having to worry about all the technology needed to launch them.
Our goal is to bridge the gap between AI developers and users while ensuring fair compensation and proper governance through blockchain technology.
Avalaunch
Yes, the AI frontier has really been heating up these last few months and it’s amazing to watch everything evolve so rapidly. Great to hear you’re bringing this grand vision to Avalanche.
We’d love to learn more about the team behind AIvalanche. What drives your shared vision?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
So the team consists of folks that are first and foremost geeks and tech builders with many years of experience across different technology software businesses and industries.
For myself (co-founder and CEO), I have 15+ years of experience in product development, software engineering as well as sales across consumer as well as centralised and decentrailzed finance. I’ve also had the great opportunity to have experience how scaling a high growth startup in Silicon Valley is like, as well as fundraising in the web3 space.
My partner in crime Hasan is our CTO, and have 5+ years of experience as a full stack and smart contracts developer. He has experience with developing a DeFi protocol that had 50m+ TVL at its peak, as well as building out indexing infrastructure of web3 on-chain data.
He had also developed an AI “Waifu” chatbot product just for the fun of it previously as well 😂
The other members of the team are split across engineering and marketing, and everyone has at least 5+ years of experience in their respective fields. It is also not the first time that the team has worked together.
Anyway, our shared vision is to build products that can help add value to people’s lives.
That could be as simple as optimizing earning yield across DeFi, or in AIvalanche DeFAI Agents case here, to help enable anyone to be able to launch and create their own AI and DeFAI Agents easily.
As shared, initially we all thought that AI is mostly just hype; but as we observed the value that AI has provided to people in 2024, as well as how leveraging on web3 tokenization as a way to help AI Agents monetize or tap into payment rails, we definitely believe that AI and DeFAI has a lot of potential to grow even further to provide even more value for humans, and we are excited to do what we can to contribute to this exciting trend.
Avalaunch
Wow, sounds like the perfect team to explore the potential of the DeFAI sector. It’s cool to see so many crypto natives merge their expertise with everything happening in AI.
AIvalanche DeFAI Agents are set to disrupt decentralized AI. Can you walk us through how the platform works from a user’s perspective and what the core features are?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
Essentially, there are 3 things that users can do on AIvalanche DeFAI Agents:
Create, Trade and Interact with AI Agents and their tokens.
Creators can easily create and launch their own customized AI or DeFAI agents with its own token by submitting a form with various configurations and providing initial liquidity and fees in $AVAXAI. There is no external tech setup needed on the creator’s part.
A dedicated page is also created for these AI agents, where anyone can then visit the page to either purchase its’ tokens, or to interact with it via the UI. We would look to have public and private chat UI so users can choose to chat privately or in a public forum.
Depending on the capabilities of the Agent (as managed by the creator), there could be different functionalities exposed here as well.
As more users purchase the agent’s tokens, the agent can eventually “graduate” and be listed in the “Live Agents” section.
This also means that all of the agent’s tokens and liquidity is migrated to a public DEX (such as Uniswap or LFJ on Avalanche), which will allow anyone to trade for its tokens at a lower fee, or even earn fees by providing liquidity for it.
Avalaunch
Great to see your focus on making the deployment of agents accessible to everyone. Can’t wait to see what creators will come up with!
What are the core functionalities of AIvalanche DeFAI agents, and how do they differ from existing AI solutions, perhaps on other networks?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
As shared, the core functionalities of AIvalanche DeFAI Agents is to allow anyone to easily create and launch their own customised AI / DeFAI agents along with the agents’ own token, and to allow anyone to purchase or trade these agent tokens as well as interact with the AI Agents.
We aim to differentiate with other AI platforms by:
1) Making it super easy for anyone — especially for non-technical people to create and manage their own custom AI agents with different LLM models
2) Offering more agent capabilities, both off-chain and on-chain, for agents created via our platform, as well as an out of the box user-friendly interface for anyone to interact with these agents
3) Doing the above AND also automatically helping to tokenizez the AI Agent, so the AI agent can potentially have a more effective way to monetise and sustain itself
Avalaunch
Sounds like you’re putting more emphasis on versatility of agents that can be built, that’s really cool. Will be really exciting to see how AI x crypto will evolve on Avalanche when there is such a powerful underlying infrastructure already in place.
How do you see AI agents influencing the future of industries such as DeFi and gaming to provide new opportunities for individuals and organisations?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
I really think it has the potential to really change how users interact and tap into DeFi, as well as how people can be constantly entertained, which is what gaming is also all about
Firstly, we already see how AI services have changed how people user the internet: instead of google searches, users now just ask chatgpt to come back with answers and analysis.
And then there is generative AI that helps users to write, create graphic designs and more.
In short, the biggest value that AI offer is helping to execute on tedious/complex tasks easier and better.
With DeFi, the biggest issue hindering its growth has always been the complexity, or at least the impression of it. AI — or DeFAI as the market now terms it — definitely has the potential to change that.
From helping any user to constantly monitor the market and execute trades 24/7, or optimizing yield and balancing a portfolio, DeFAI has the potential to simplify execution and as such onboard even more users and liquidity.
WIth gaming, generative AI that can constantly learn and improve pretty much has the ability to entertain people 24/7.
We have already seen AI influencers and “AIdols” which I believe will only continue to grow, and I believe that any games that have any non-playable characters can simply now leverage AI to make that NPC more dynamic and impactful.
Ultimately, for individuals and organizations, I think the takeaway is to learn how to utilise AI agents to remove tedious tasks so we can be more efficient and save time for either more interesting work for us humans, or to enjoy our short human life 😄
Avalaunch
That sounds like a good plan 😆 and yes, it will be really interesting to see the potential that can be unlocked when the complexities of DeFi platforms can be removed via agents. And of course, gaming x AI is such an unbelievably huge sector. So much potential to tap into there.
The AVAXAI token plays a significant role in the AIvalanche ecosystem. Could you explain its utilities and how it fuels the platform’s growth?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
$AVAXAI is required to create a new AI or DeFAI Agent. The AI Agent’s token will be paired with $AVAXAI for liquidity, so when anyone wants to purchase the agent token, they have to first swap for $AVAXAI.
For anyone that wants more advanced support in creation and maintenance of their AI agents, we will also look to offer support while charging fees in $AVAXAI.
$AVAXAI has a deflationary tokenomics with a max supply of 1bn. As the protocol earns fees, the protocol will purchase buy back and burn $AVAXAI from the market.
Avalaunch
A powerful flywheel for the AVAXAI token, awesome!
Community building is pivotal as AI continues to evolve alongside humanity. How has AIvalanche focused on fostering a community that embraces this evolution and encourages collaboration with AI?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
Firstly, I believe that one of the strongest way to attract and foster communities — at least initially — is to generate (financial) value for users.. or to entertain them as much as possible 😄
These activities basically captures, retains and growth attention over time. With more attention/people, there will be more people who then naturally get more curious to take the next step to try things out, experiment, innovate, collaborate and more.
Secondly, we have to of course keep improving our platform to not only make it easier for anyone to use, but also to make it more capable.
We also have to implement more activities to encourage and educate users to simply just play around and create their own AI Agents, experimenting with different AI Agent capabilities as well.
This could come in the form of contests or incentives to promote more AI agent creators.
Last but not least, partnerships and collaborations with relevant groups and communities. Being an AI Agent creator platform that aims to allow anyone to create AI agents for different categories, we can be partnering up with DeFi communities or KOLs or games, and even assist them in taking the step to launch their own customised AI Agent with its own token as well for their community members.
Avalaunch
Can’t wait to see you guys bring together all native Avalanche protocols to integrate AI agents in some capacity.
What exciting innovations or features are on the horizon for AIvalanche, according to your roadmap?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
The immediate future is to launch our platform shortly after TGE, so people can start launching tokenised AI agents ASAP
And then over the next several months, we will keep adding on more and more capabilities to expand what the AI agents created through AIvalanche DeFAI Agents can do
As per our project’s naming as well, we do want to pay a bit more attention to DeFAI, which is all about AI Agents that can execute on-chain actions.
We want to also potentially explore different AI agent tokenisation and launch models over time to see if there can be different or better methods to help AI agents capture value/monetise.
Last but not least, we are really excited to see how AI Agents can progress to working together in a team — or “AI Agent Swarms” as some may term it.
This can be another huge leap in how AI agents can deliver value to us humans, as it now means that AI agents can work with each other 24/7 in not only their own tasks, but to direct and improve their fellow agents as well, to keep striving for better results and more value.. without the need for a human to keep improving it.
Avalaunch
Nice! That’s a lot that we can look forward to. Especially with the development of swarm tech.
What long-term societal changes could AIvalanche DeFAI agents bring about as AI becomes more prominent in daily life?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
Firstly, the democratization of AI: by making it easy for non-technical people to experiment, create and launch their own AI agents with different capabilities as well as having its own token, more people can now harness the capabilities of AI.
This leads to greater innovation being delivered to others with AI from the many, rather than only from the larger corporations.
Secondly, with tokenization being a core component, it offers a way for AI agent creators to monetise their AI Agent creations, allowing for am ore sustainable way to not only keep their AI Agents “alive”, but to also have the resources to improve upon it over time
Thirdly, once again thanks to tokenization, everyone can now be a “co-owner” of AI agents, and be able to participate in its growth as well as help govern the direction of how the Agent improves.
We believe this is what building AI Agents on Web3 fundamentally offers.
Avalaunch
Yes, decentralizing the growth of AI is very important as we move forward. So we’ve come to the final question before moving onto the community section of this AMA! What is the long-term vision for AIvalanche, and how do you hope it will shape the future of decentralized AI and beyond?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
As I hopefully have also alluded with my previous answers, we are passionate to build out AIvalanche DeFAI Agents as an AI hub that can contribute to the adoption of AI by making it as easy as possible for anyone to launch, co-own and interact with AI/DeFAI agents with different capabilities
We hope to play a part in helping as many people as possible to launch their own AI Agents — whether for themselves, or for others — and to have a way to monetise them easily too.
Last but not least, with web3 ethos being about decentralization, we see that tokenization literally can enable for this by allowing for decentralized co-ownership and governance of AI Agents.
With distributed ownership of the best AI Agents, we can hopefully see the best used AI agents being managed and directed by a distributed group of people, rather than only by large corporations (as we observe today)
Avalaunch
Awesome, AIvalanche is going to be an integral platform for AI on Avalanche and the broader industry, we’re glad to be on the journey with you!
Our first question is from @rubalsaluja: What unique capabilities do AIvalanche DeFAI Agents — like AI Elon, AI Ninja Turtle, and AI Eliza — offer for automating DeFi strategies and generating viral content? How do these features address the diverse needs of users within the Web3 ecosystem?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
“AI Elon”, “AI Ninja” and “AI Eliza” are example representatives of the type of AI Agents that we want to support on our platform.
“AI Elon” represents the potential capabilities fo DeFAI Agents that can help execute on-chain transactions and abstract away complex DeFi actions, such as yield optimization or liquidity management.
“AI Ninja” represents an AI Agent that can help users to potentially trade memes better 😃
By observing social media and on-chain data, an AI Agent which is running 24/7 can potentially help users to trade meme coins more profitably.
Finally, “AI Eliza” represents an agent that is all about entertainment… this could be in the form of AI Influencers on social media, or playing diverse characters in a game.
Ultimately web3 users have many “wants” — generating more value/profits, as well as being entertained are part of these “wants” that AI Agents can serve 🙏

Next we hear from @Rajanshee: How does the $AVAXAI token function within the AIvalanche DeFAI Agents ecosystem, and what role does it play in enabling seamless interactions between users and AI agents?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
I will refer to the answer that I have shared previously:
$AVAXAI is required to create a new AI or DeFAI Agent. The AI Agent’s token will be paired with $AVAXAI for liquidity, so when anyone wants to purchase the agent token, they have to first swap for $AVAXAI.
Effectively, the more demand for AI Agents on our platform, the more we value we hope $AVAXAI can capture!
Avalaunch
A questions from @MaiTuyet97: How do AIvalanche DeFAI Agents ensure accessibility for both novice and experienced users in the DeFi ecosystem? Are there customizable options or educational tools to support diverse user needs?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
Our goal with the platform is to first make it as simple as possible for anyone to create their own AI Agents. This means being able to launch one up with by inputting a few details and a few clicks.
At the same time, we also want to offer more capabilities for people to experiment different AI models, as well as improve upon their own AI agents. These capabilities will all be surfaced up in the AI Agent Management page.
Finally, we do see that for very experienced creators, they would likely just prefer to integrate something that they have done that may not yet be possible from our platform just yet. And we are more than happy to assist in that as well as ultimately it’s all about being able to create value.
And yes, we do definitely see that educational guides/materials will be created alongside the product to help make it easier for users to launch their own AI Agents!
Avalaunch
@HeyBroMohsin4 wants to know: How does AIvalanche DeFAI Agents plan to scale its marketplace and attract millions of users in the highly competitive AI and DeFi ecosystem?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
Firstly, more awareness. In web3, that also means more distribution of our token. This would mean that we will always explore more listings of $AVAXAI to get more distribution and awareness of the platform.
Secondly, more marketing content to keep being relevant and to get attention. More likely than not, we may have several AI Agents created just for more content creation of our platform 😃
Lastly, partnerships with relevant communities and projects such that we can not just only integrate to them, but also get awareness of their communities of any integrations we have done
Avalaunch
With the IDO taking place on Avalaunch, what do AIvalanche DeFAI Agents expect from the Avalaunch community and what value will they gain from this collaboration? — @ToPratik
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
We definitely hope to be able to get the full support of the Avalaunch community!
Not just in participating about in this IDO launch, but also in spreading awareness about it, as well as also trying out launching AI Agents when the platform launches 🙏
As an AI agent project that is launching only on the Avalanche blockchain, we are definitely honoured that the Avalaunch team and community is open to collaboration. And we definitely hope to do our best to deliver value to everyone that participates and supports us! 😊
Avalaunch
@RSingh441 asks: Can you elaborate on the marketing strategy for AIvalanche DeFAI Agents? What approaches will you use to attract and grow a larger community?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
This question is quite similar to the previous question, so I will refer to it again 🙏
1) Greater token distribution, which can come in the form of more listings
2) More content creation: and we will look to also launch our own AI Agents to help us on this front!
3) Partnerships and collabs with relevant communities and projects — to help not just with integration capabilities for AI Agents, but also bringing more awareness to it
Avalaunch
Will AIvalanche DeFAI Agents’ token include extra functionality like staking or yield farming? Do you have a BuyBack scheme or a Token Burn plan in place to boost your token’s value and attract investors? — question from @Pantojaa01
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
Yes and yes 😄
For staking/yield farming, we will share more specifics in the future once things are more firmed up 😃
And yes as previously also shared, protocol fees earned will be used to buy back and burn $AVAXAI from the market, and we see this as a way to directly correlate the performance of the protocol to $AVAXAI as well.
Avalaunch
@KAS928 would like to know: Safety and security are top priorities. How does the team plan to address any potential security issues that may arise? Have contingency measures or solutions been developed to handle such situations?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
So in our case, there can be two types of security concerns: web3 related, as well as AI related.
For web3, the team having worked on DeFi protocols before has experience on how best to manage these issues: from smart contract audits to setting up operational security processes to utilising monitoring tools, we will look to implement them.
And then there is AI related security as well, which can concern “Ethics of AI Agents”.
As an AI Agent platform, we are definitely taking the direction of progressive decentralisation.
So we will have more oversight at the start for such bad behaviour. As the platform grows larger and gets more activity, just like other web3 platforms, it would naturally be easier to transition to let the community (who can be co-owners via $AVAXAI) and the majority decide on the direction of things such as rules and so on.
Avalaunch
Question from @Jefffel_fire: Can you list 2–3 killer features of AVAXAI that make it ahead of its competitors? What is the competitive advantage that AVAXAI has that you feel most confident about?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
The ultimate thing that we want are offering would be for users to easily be able to BOTH launch an AI Agent as well as tokenize and potentially monetise for it, at the same time, via the platform, easily.
And without being technical.
There are platforms out there that could allow users to create their own AI Agents, but often they are locked to just 1 particular AI model or service.
And then there are AI agent protocols that allow users to launch AI Agent tokens, but they do not actually help users to launch their own AI Agent itself — the user is expected to launch, deploy and manage the AI Agent infrastructure themselves.
We are looking to offer both and make it as easy as possible to do so — along with the ability to try out different AI models
Avalaunch
We’re onto our very last question from the Avalaunch community! @anchit00 asks: What is the current primary focus of AIvalanche DeFAI Agents: community building, market/exchange presence, or product development? Additionally, when will the AIvalanche DeFAI Agents’ tokens be listed on exchanges, and which exchanges are being considered for listing?
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
Definitely all of the above!
But I would rank it first by market/exchange presence, followed by product development and then community building.
This is also because with more market/exchange presence and with a product, we believe the community will naturally come along more effectively.
Avalaunch
Awesome, well thank you so much Jeff for sharing such deep insights into how you’re thinking through everything! Can’t wait to see the platform in action and what the community will create. The AI landscape on Avalanche will be transformed! Very excited.
Avalaunch community — thanks for tuning in and remember to register for the IDO!
Jeff Lam | AIvalanche
Thank you once again for the opportunity to share! And thanks for the work on hosting/moderating too 🙏
Cheers!
